The DOC (Dortmunder OberflächenCentrum) is one of the world’s leading development centers for flat steel coatings. Following the establishment of the company DOC® in 1999, the newly built center began operation in Dortmund in December 2000. Among the equipment and facilities available are numerous laboratory and pilot scale systems which allow us to improve existing processes and test completely new processes for the coating of steel coil.
The equipment manufacturer SMS DEMAG is a co-shareholder in DOC®. This involvement means that equipment-related aspects of new coatings are integrated into product development at the earliest possible stage.
Another partner, this time from the area of applications-related research, is the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. It has a project group directly involved in DOC® as a cooperation partner.
