The Processing business unit is focused on specialized markets in which flat carbon steel is processed. Its key products are tinplate from Rasselstein, medium-wide strip from Hoesch Hohenlimburg and grain-oriented electrical steel from ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel. Rasselstein is Germany’s only producer of tinplate. 160 million euros has been invested in its Andernach site in the Rhineland-Palatinate region to expand it into the biggest tinplate production facility in the world. Hoesch Hohenlimburg is targeting the production of over one million metric tons of medium-wide strip in the foreseeable future as part of its forward strategy. ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel is the world number two supplier of grain-oriented electrical steel.
The companies in the Processing business unit operate in attractive market segments. In tinplate and medium-wide strip, we are pursuing a forward strategy, the benefits of which we will reap in the coming years. The electrical steel operations have been successfully restructured.
