At the beginning of November the groundbreaking ceremony for the Technikum in Duisburg took place. It plays a central role in the development project Carbon2Chem.
The aim is to use metallurgical gases from steel production for the production of chemicals such as ammonia and Methanol - including the CO2.
In the Technikum, results from basic research are to be transferred to industrial scale. thyssenkrupp invests 33.8 million euros in the building with an area of approximately 2,600 square meters. In addition, some ten million euros come from the BMBF funding sum for the equipment and use of the pilot plant.
Completion is planned for spring 2018.
