Dr.-Ing. Marco Richrath – Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Career

Dr. Marco Richrath has been Chief Operating Officer of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG since January 1, 2026. He is responsible for the operational and technological management of the entire production process. His remit covers the areas of Upstream Operations, Downstream Operations, Technology, Environment & Maintenance, and Logistics.

He is also responsible for the companies EECV, thyssenkrupp Veerhaven, and thyssenkrupp Steel Logistics.

The doctor of engineering began his professional career at thyssenkrupp Uhde and subsequently held various national and international management positions within the Shell Group. Among other things, he managed and transformed Germany's largest refinery in the south of Cologne. Most recently, Marco Richrath was Senior Vice President Chemicals and Products for Europe and Africa at Shell plc, Rotterdam.
