With approximately 1,000 employees at its Hagen site, thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg produces hot-rolled precision strip – a specialty product for the automotive, sawmill, and agricultural machinery industries, as well as the cold-rolling sector.

Environmental means that...

taking responsibility for our environment is our top priority. Sustainable environmental protection is firmly rooted in our vision of a sustainable future and is an essential part of our corporate strategy. That is why we are continuously and systematically working to reduce our environmental footprint and further develop our processes with a focus on climate protection.

Wind power directly to the plant

Hohenlimburg wind farm

Since June 2024, thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg has been the first German industrial plant to be supplied with locally generated wind power via a direct power line. Four newly installed wind turbines from our partner SL NaturEnergie are connected to the plant’s grid via a direct line approximately 3 kilometers long. On an annual average, the wind power can thus cover 40 percent of the electricity required. The project has the potential to reduce site-related CO2 emissions by 11 percent.

Electric forklift

In intralogistics, thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg is using a fully electric heavy-duty forklift with a net weight of 25 tons and a battery capacity of 208 kWh. Compared to a diesel-powered vehicle, energy consumption is reduced by around 80 percent; energy costs drop from about 8 cents to 1.4 cents per ton transported. The electric drive eliminates exhaust emissions and reduces noise and vibration levels in the driver’s cab. In fiscal year 2025/2026, two additional heavy-duty electric forklifts will be purchased, bringing the proportion of electric vehicles to nearly 50% of the heavy-duty forklift fleet.

Modernization of Lift-beam Furnace 3: Energy-efficient and H2-ready

thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg completed the modernization of walking beam furnace 3 in early 2026. The core of the renovation consisted of structural modifications to the furnace chamber, a new charging area, and highly efficient, flameless, hydrogen-compatible burners. The modernized furnace is more efficient, reduces nitrogen oxide emissions, and is prepared for mixed-gas operation (H2-ready). As a result, the furnace meets future exhaust emission limits and is a concrete component of the site’s decarbonization strategy.

Our focus is on our employees and key issues such as diversity and inclusion, safety and health, social engagement, and the protection of human rights. In all these areas, we take a clear stand and consistently align our actions with these principles.

Work-life balance

Family-friendly company

thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg provides concrete support to employees in various life situations: parental leave and part-time work are available – even for shift workers and those in management positions. Trained care coordinators advise employees who are caring for family members. For childcare, the company has partnerships with two kindergartens in Hohenlimburg and near the plant, with reserved spots for children of employees. These services are complemented by an on-site health center, an occupational health service, mental health first aid training, and an EAP counseling hotline.

Information Security (TISAX®)

Information security

Information security is an integral part of our corporate governance and is comprehensively embedded at all levels of our company. In our collaboration with customers and partners – particularly in the automotive industry – we adhere to the industry-standard TISAX® framework. To manage our information security processes, we operate an ISMS based on ISO/IEC 27001, the effectiveness of which is regularly audited. In June 2024, we validated our information security policies through an external TISAX assessment; governance is the responsibility of the ENX Association.
