Turning, milling, drilling, grinding. Metal cutting processes are used to manufacture precision parts. They are generally performed on CNC machine tools.
Training as a machine tool engineer focuses on manufacturing workpieces on machine tools. In addition to basic metalworking knowledge and skills, this training also provides know-how about associated areas (welding, brazing, heat treatment, grinding, drilling, etc.).
Workpieces are manufactured on both manual and computer-controlled CNC machines. The job involves planning workflows, writing and entering programs, setting up the machines and constantly monitoring the manufactured products using various kinds of measuring equipment.
You will learn how to work with technical drawings and tables and how to service and maintain tools and machines in accordance with the set guidelines.
In compliance with regulations and safety provisions, machine tool engineers independently manufacture individual pieces and series from various materials.
