History of the Company
The steel business of can look back on a long, eventful history which is rich in tradition. This is characterized by technological developments and special encounters, as well as structural change. During its history, the company and its employees have helped to shape the region and the history of steel – which Germany’s largest steel manufacturer continues to do.
The Chronology provides an insight into the history of the company, from its foundation as a cast steel factory in Essen by Friedrich Krupp in 1811 and that of August Thyssen in Duisburg in 1891 until today.
