Dr.-Ing. Marco Richrath will be the new Chief Operations Officer (COO) at thyssenkrupp Steel

Duisburg, December 15 – In an extraordinary meeting, the Supervisory Board of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG has appointed Dr.-Ing. Marco Richrath (53) as COO of the company. Dr. Richrath's previous post was as Senior Vice President Chemicals and Products for Europe and Africa at Shell plc, Rotterdam, and he will take up his position at thyssenkrupp Steel on January 1, 2026. He will be responsible for the operational and technological management of the company's entire production. He holds a doctorate in engineering and began his professional career at thyssenkrupp Uhde, subsequently moving on to various managerial positions within the Shell Group both in Germany and other countries. Among other things, he managed and transformed Germany's largest refinery in the south of Cologne.

Ilse Henne, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of thyssenkrupp Steel: "With Dr. Marco Richrath, we are gaining an experienced manager with extensive strategic and technical expertise. In particular, his experience with reorganization and operational transformation processes will help us to implement our industrial concept consistently and to realign our production network. We are looking forward to working with him."

Dr. Marie Jaroni, Chief Executive Officer, has been in charge of the Production division during the transition period. In future, the CEO's department will be responsible for the strategic development and transformation of the company, the area of innovation, and the full spectrum of sales management activities. Georgios Giovanakis will be responsible for Sales as a member of the extended Management Board in the CEO's department.
