Executive Board personnel changes at thyssenkrupp Steel

Duisburg, 29 May 2024 – Dr. Arnd Köfler, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at thyssenkrupp Steel and responsible for the strategy and implementation of the transformation to carbon-neutral steel production, will leave the company by mutual agreement on June 30, for personal reasons. He will be succeeded by Dennis Grimm, currently CTO at Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann (HKM). Supervisory Board Chairman Sigmar Gabriel: "Dr. Köfler was behind the planning of the green transformation at thyssenkrupp Steel, driving it forward in crucial times with remarkable dedication and passion right through to the funding decision and start of construction of the first direct reduction plant. He deserves our heartfelt gratitude and respect, above all for this accomplishment. We wish him every success and all the best for the future."

The first direct reduction plant at the Duisburg site is now progressing from the cooperation and preparation phases to actual construction. The CEO's office is incorporating a dedicated function to oversee the further work involved in the project: as Executive Manager, Ulrich Greiner-Pachter will be solely and fully responsible for the construction and completion of the direct reduction plant.
