- thyssenkrupp Steel presents production-ready high-performance electrical steel powercore® Traction NGO 025-125Y420 for electromobility and the specially developed and innovative stabosol® adhesive and insulating varnish to further increase the performance of e-machines
- thyssenkrupp Steel and thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel will demonstrate their product portfolio of non-grain-oriented (NO) and grain-oriented (KO) electrical steel with a focus on the mobility and energy transition
- September 18 and 19, 2024 in Pordenone, Hall 5, Stand B08
Duisburg, September 10, 2024 - Coiltech, the leading international trade fair for materials and machinery for the production of electric motors, generators and transformers, will open its doors in Pordenone, Italy, on September 18 and 19, 2024. thyssenkrupp Steel is pleased to present its latest innovations and technologies at this renowned event. thyssenkrupp Steel is one of the leading premium suppliers of non-oriented (NO) electrical steel in Europe, thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel is the European market leader for grain-oriented (KO) electrical steel with worldwide activities and locations in Gelsenkirchen (Germany), Isbergues (France) and Nashik (India). With this broad positioning, thyssenkrupp's steel division is an important partner in the generation and distribution of renewable energies and is playing a key role in shaping the future of electromobility.
Innovative solutions for electromobility and energy efficiency
The joint trade fair appearance of thyssenkrupp Steel and thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel will focus on state-of-the-art electrical steel and innovative solutions that have been specially developed to meet the requirements of electromobility and energy efficiency. The steel manufacturer will also be presenting its latest grade at the trade fair: the premium product powercore® Traction NGO 025-125Y420 – ideal for highly efficient and high-speed automotive traction motors. Thanks to an optimized alloy concept, the newly developed grade – which is particularly thin at just 0.25 millimetres – has extremely low remagnetization losses of max. 12.5 W/kg (400 Hz / 1 T) combined with a guaranteed high minimum mechanical strength (Rp0.2) of 420 MPa. With these values, the new grade is one of the leading grades available in Europe and is therefore top grade in the e-mobility segment. Lowest remagnetization losses enable higher efficiency of traction motors, so the electric vehicle can cover more kilometers with one battery charge or the battery capacity can be reduced with the same range. This saves energy, weight and costs. The new product is also available as CO2-reduced bluemint® steel to make a further contribution to sustainable e-mobility.
Another example of innovation: the highly reactive stabosol® adhesive and insulating varnish is ideal for joining innovative electrical steel to form rotor and stator stacks - the core modules of an electric motor. In contrast to other processes commonly used in large series production, stabosol® avoids adverse effects such as material damage and increases thermal stability and tightness. In this way, innovative electric motors can be built with significantly higher efficiency and power density.
The powercore® and powercore® Traction brands stand for electrical steel with the highest demands on the energy efficiency of electric motors and generators. thyssenkrupp supplies industry, household appliance manufacturers, energy producers and the automotive industry worldwide with high-quality premium materials.
Visitors to the thyssenkrupp stand can find out about further material and process innovations. The Duisburg-based NO experts with proven automotive expertise are getting e-mobility on the move: Steels from the powercore® Traction NGO brand have been specially developed for the requirements of highly efficient and powerful e-drives and offer optimized grades for long ranges and maximum driving dynamics.
The electrical steel specialists from thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel in Gelsenkirchen, the only supplier of top grades in Europe, are presenting new products and services: Technologically sophisticated top grades, so-called top grades of the powercore® brand, which are characterized by particularly low remagnetization losses and thus achieve high efficiencies in current conversion. The ultra-fine electrical steel strip, no thicker than 0.23 mm, is primarily used in modern, highly efficient and low-noise transformers. thyssenkrupp is also presenting innovative powercore® Traction grades, grain-oriented electrical steel strip for use in highly efficient electric motors and generators. With new drive concepts for electric vehicles, such as axial flux motors made from powercore® Traction material, power density can be increased and thus a greater vehicle range achieved.
