Under the trade fair motto "MOVING STEEL FORWARD", thyssenkrupp Steel will be presenting innovative material solutions for economical lightweight construction and sustainable mobility at Blechexpo 2025 in Stuttgart from October 21 to 24 in hall 10, booth 10406. The focus will be on InPart Solutions, a holistic approach to reducing complexity in vehicle construction, as well as sustainable steel products and high-strength steel strip for demanding applications.

InPart Solutions: Less complexity, high material and process efficiency

With InPart Solutions, thyssenkrupp Steel has developed an innovative concept to reduce the number of components in car body and chassis structures through targeted component integration. High-strength materials and established steel technologies such as tailored blanks form the basis for reducing component count, material usage and joining operations – while enhancing overall performance.

"Today, our customers expect more than just high-quality steel – they are looking for solutions that simplify processes, increase efficiency and support sustainability. This is exactly where InPart Solutions comes in," explains Georgios Giovanakis, Senior Vice President Sales at thyssenkrupp Steel.

With the Door Ring, a solution developed jointly with Baosteel Tailored Blanks to reduce complexity in lightweight automotive construction, thyssenkrupp Steel is presenting an application example from InPart Solutions. The customized shaped blank for hot forming enables decoating-free joining – meaning, the coating on the steel does not need to be removed before welding. This saves time, costs and CO2 emissions and makes the production process more efficient overall. This is made possible by the innovative GONAtech® process, an innovative joining process from Baosteel Tailored Blanks that was specially developed for processing tailored blanks – i.e. customized steel blanks with locally varying properties such as thickness, strength and coating. MBW® manganese-boron steels with strengths of up to 1,900 MPa ensure maximum material efficiency.

Control arms made of CH-W® chassis steel:High-strength multiphase steel for durable chassis components

With its new control arm made of hot-rolled CH-W® chassis steel, thyssenkrupp Steel is showcasing an application example for economical lightweight construction in chassis engineering at Blechexpo. The hot-rolled multiphase steels of the CH-W® family, with maximum strength of almost 1,000 megapascals, were developed specifically for complex, heavily stressed chassis components. They enable significant weight reduction while maintaining high operational stability and service life. Improved formability – optimized hole expansion, tight bending radii, reduced edge crack sensitivity – allows for sophisticated geometries, while the high yield strengths of the new CH-W® 750Y950T grade support its use in crash-relevant components.

"Our materials and technologies enable a new way of thinking about components – functionally, economically and sustainably. This is our contribution to the mobility of tomorrow," says Giovanakis.

Application-oriented materials for mobility, vehicle construction and energy technology

The product portfolio presented at Blechexpo 2025 is tailored to the needs of industrial users and future-oriented mobility solutions, which at the same time supports customers in making their processes more efficient, increasing the sustainability across the value chain and enhancing the performance of their products:

  • High-strength cut-to-length sheet for applications in special-purpose vehicles such as dump trucks, trailers, or agricultural machinery. The products offer maximum robustness, load-bearing capacity, and durability.
  • Sustainable steel products: With bluemint® Steel, thyssenkrupp Steel offers CO2-reduced carbon steel flat products for a more climate-friendly value chain. ZM Ecoprotect® Solar is available as a high-performance, zinc-aluminum-magnesium-coated steel solution for PV mounting systems.
  • Material of Mobility: Materials such as MBW®, jetQ®, CH-W® and powercore® traction enable innovative lightweight solutions for body and chassis as well as efficient drives – with a focus on safety, economy and sustainability.

At Blechexpo 2025 in Stuttgart, thyssenkrupp Steel will present InPart Solutions in detail and outline how the innovative concept can be used to optimize the manufacture of automotive components in terms of cost-, weight-, and sustainability-efficiency. Interested visitors can find out more about InPart Solutions and many other topics from October 21 to 24 in hall 10, booth 10406.
